Yellow Cucumber Dhal


Yellow Cucumber dhal

Yellow cucumber is very good to reduce body heat. This recipe goes well with rice as well as Chappati



Ingredients:

Yellow Cucumber medium size - 1
Moong Dhal – ½ cup
Turmeric – pinch
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Asafotedia / hing- pinch
Garlic – 2 cloves

For Tempering:

Oil – 1 tsp
Asafotedia / hing- pinch
Red Chillis – 3
Mustard – 1tsp
Cumin seeds – 1tsp
Curry leaves - few
Onion - 1

Preparation:

Wash and peel the cucumber, remove the seeds and cut it into small pieces.
Cut onion into small pieces and keep it ready for tempering
Wash the moong dhal

Method:

Put Yellow cucumber,  moog dhal, hing, garlic, turmeric and enough water  in the pressure cooker for 3 whistles.
Cool down and mash the dhal a little.
Add salt and tempering to it and give it a nice mix.

Variation:

Instead of moong dhal you can try this recipe with toor dhal.
Instead of adding onion in tempering you can add it with cucmber directly in pressure cooker.
Chilli powder can be replaced by green chillis
