Pudina Thogayal


Pudina Thogayal / Mint Chutney




Ingredients:

Pudina (mint leaves) – 1 bunch
Urad dhal – 2 tsp
Red chilli – 3
Tamarind – small lemon sized
Asafotedia / Hing – ½ tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Salt – to taste
Water – little (to grind)

Preparation:

Wash the mint leaves nicely.

Method:
In a pan heat oil and add urad dhal, tamarind, red chilli. Sauté it nicely till urad dhal turns red. 
Add mint leaves and sauté it till the mint leaves shrink. Allow it to cool.
Transfer the contents into a mixie, add little water and grind it to a thick paste.

Serve it with hot rice with a teaspoon of ghee. It also goes well with idli / dosa J

Variation:

2 tsp of shredded coconut can be added while grinding  for added flavor.
