Simple Rasam Recipe

Simple Rasam:

This is a very simple recipe. Rasam helps in digestion. You can drink it or eat it with hot steamed rice. All you need is a rasam powder for this recipe. You can either use the one available from the shop or for home made rasam powder recipe check this link.


Ingredients:
Rasam powder – 1 ½ tsp
Tamarind – small lemon sized
Tomato – 1
Garlic – 3 cloves
Asafotedia / Hing – a pinch
Coriander leaves – few
Rock Salt – to taste

For tempering:
Oil / Ghee – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Curry leaves – few

Preparation:

Soak the tamarind in warm water for some time. Extract the tamarind juice and discard the pulp.
Chop the tomatoes roughly.

Method:
In a vessel take the tamarind juice, dilute it by adding 2 cups of water.
Add chopped tomatoes, garlic, salt, Asafotedia / hing in that vessel and let it boil for 10 minutes.
Add  rasam powder and turn off the stove.
Do the tempering and add it.
Garnish with coriander leaves and curry leaves.

Note: Rock salt can be substituted by iodized salt.

It goes well with steamed rice or can be eaten separately as soup. Bye for nowJ
