Pudina Podi Recipe / Mint Powder Recipe:


Mint / Pundina – 1 bunch
Roasted Chana dhal ( Pottu kadalai ) – 1 cup
Red chillies – 3
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Hing / asafoetida – 1 tsp
Salt – to taste

Remove the leaves from the mint and discard the stem.
Wash it nicely and dry it in a cotton cloth. (Do not dry in sun).

Dry Roast the roasted chana dhal, cumin seeds, red chillies in a heavy bottom pan.
Turn off the stove, add mint leaves and saute it for a minute to remove any extra moisture from it.
If you are using powdered asafetida add it after turning the flame off.
Grind them into a coarse powder in a mixie.
Add salt and mix well.
If you store the mix in an air tight container, it can stay for a month.

Mint podi is readyJ Serve it with hot rice or idli or dosa.
