Tomato - Coconut Chutney

Tomato Coconut Chutney (Tangy and Spicy):

This is perfect chutney for dosa, idli and upma varieties. Tangy, Spicy and Tasty…


Tomato - 3
Coconut  - ½ shell
Green Chillies- 8
Jeera – 1 tsp
Garlic – 3 cloves
Tamarind – a small size
Coriander Leaves – handful
Salt – to taste
Oil – 1 tsp

For Tempering:

Oil - little
Mustard – 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few


Chop the tomatoes roughly.
Grate the coconut and keep aside.
Slit the green chillies.
Soak tamarind in little water.


Heat a pan with one teaspoon oil.
When hot add slit chilles. (Take care as it will splutter) and wait till its fried.
Now remove the chillies and keep aside.
In the same pan add chopped tomatoes and wait till tomatoes are cooked and it comes together. Wait for it to cool.
In a blender add grated cocont, fried chillies, cooked tomatoes, soaked tamarind, jeera, garlic, coriander leaves and salt.
Blend to a smooth paste.
Do the tempering.

Tomato - Coconut chutney is ready.
